Eagles Pound Bulldogs, Seize 1st Place

September 22nd, 2007 · No Comments

The Eagles didn’t seized sole possession of first place on Saturday as they beat down the Bulldogs 33-0 in their home opener. The Eagles scored early and often drawing E-A-G-L-E-S… EAGLES!! chants from their faithful following.

The Eagles were simply fantastic today on both sides of the ball. Led by Reed Erwin, the offense took advantage of great blocking and hard-nosed running from the Eagles stable of capable running backs. Walker Pattyson and Dakota Neer found themselves in the open field on a regular basis and stymied the Bulldogs defense with speed and athleticism.

In a spirited effort, the Eagle defense pitched a shutout with timely penetration, pursuit and sound tackling. The Bulldogs rarely found an open hole, and when they did manage to cross the line of scrimmage they were met by a swarm of Eagle defenders. The special teams were indeed special as Drew Ball hustled to recover a fumble on a kickoff return. With the win, the Eagles move to 3-0 and will face the 2-1 Predators next Saturday at QCMS 1 @ 10am.

Other scores from around the league:

Diablos 12, Rattlers 6
Rams 25, Pirates 0
Cardinals 18, Vipers 0
Miners 27, Buffaloes 6
Predators 41, Cougars 6
