STYFL Announces Winter Scrimmages and Training Camp

January 7th, 2008 · No Comments

The STYFL recently posted an article to their site informing interested parties of their Winter Scrimmages and Training Camp to take place in February.

Our objective is to provide quality instruction of football fundamentals and conditioning for both new and returning players. Additionally, the players will get simulated game repetitions on a weekly basis where coaches can continue instruction in a game setting that is designed around teaching and training. Coaches will assemble different squads from each age group every week with the intent of getting quality match ups and creating learning opportunities for all participants.”

Follow the more tag below to view the FAQ which provides more details. Drew’s looking to play baseball, but we’re going to look into doing both. Should be fun…. hope to see some of you there. Oh, by the way, I think you can contact STYFL to buy the equipment at a discount. The kids are required to bring their own equipment.

Q: My child has never played fotball. Is this a good way for him to start.

A: Absolutely. The structure of Scrimmages and Skills Training is designed to focus on the improving the skills and fundamentals of the players. Coaches are not concerned with “game-planning” for the week. Thier primary focus is to instruct the players and give them opportunities to practice what they learn.

Q: Where will we practice and scrimmage?

A: The primary location will likely be Queen Creek Middle School.

Q: How much will it cost?

A: We are finalizing plans with facilities and evaluating all the costs we will incur. We will publish this shortly.

Q: Will coaches have to find thier own practice facilities?

A: No. We will have a 2 hour training session one night each week and a 5-6 hour scrimmage block on Saturday.

Q: Will we be fundraising?

A: No.

Q: Will I need to provide equipmnet?

A: Yes. All participants must supply helmet, shoulder pads, 7-piece pad set and pants. Please contact us if you need advice on where to purchase equipment.

Q: What age groups will you have?

A: We will take registrations for the following age groups:

Mighty Mite (7-8)
Jr Pee Wee (9-10)
Pee Wee (11-12)
High School Prep (13-14)

We reserve the right to limit the number of players or cancel any age group. Any cancelations will receive a full refund.
