Plano, Texas… Go Ahead

October 2nd, 2008 · No Comments

I learned from Mr. Deaton last night that we have some followers in Plano, TX! And rumor has it that our friends from the South are looking for more frequent updates on the site.  Well, my friends… ask and you shall receive!  We’re all about those who support this team at and appreciate the fact that you’re enjoying the site and getting to follow Alec’s season from a distance.  After all… that was all part of the master plan.

So here’s the scoop… the boys practiced hard this week on Monday and Wednesday.  There was a lot more contact than usual given our bye this weekend.  Lots of hitting drills like “Oklahoma”, “King of the Board”, “Circle of Death” type stuff.  The kids also ran their little behinds off this week in an attempt to reacquaint themselves with the perils of the preseason conditioning program.  We parents totally appreciated that as getting the boys off to bed wasn’t an issue at least twice this week.

Eagles Bury Bulldogs 12-0, move to 2-1

September 27th, 2008 · 3 Comments

E-A-G-L-E-S… EAGLES!! The Mighty Might Eagles were indeed mighty this morning as they thoroughly dominated the Bulldogs 12-0 at Queen Creek Middle School. The birds in black were sharp from the get go as they took the field and manhandled the undermanned Bulldogs.

Dakota Neer got the party started with two touchdown runs in the first half and the Eagles defense played absolutely terrific as the Bulldogs struggled to get anything going on either side of the ball. Had it not been for a few uncharacteristic mental mistakes, the Eagles might have put this one to bed before halftime. Nevertheless, the half ended with the Eagles up 12-0.

Week 3 STYFL Mighty Might Lowdown

September 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Three games are on the slate this weekend as the Eagles battle the Bulldogs, the Diablos take on Cardinals, and the Special Forces face the Rams.

Eagles (1-1) versus Bulldogs (0-2)
(8am Queen Creek Middle School)

The Eagles and Bulldogs share one common opponent so far this season, the Diablos.  The Eagles lost a heartbreaker to the Diablos in week one in a game that frankly could have went either way.  The Eagles ran out of time as they were knocking on the door to the endzone toward the beginning of the first half, and the Diablos scored the deciding touchdown with less than a minute to play in the fourth quarter.  The Bulldogs lost to the Diablos 14-0 in what appeared to be a very evenly matched game as well.

The Eagles easily handled the Rams in their week 2 showdown and the Bulldogs lost another tough game to the Cardinals 14-0 in Week 1.  The Eagles defense is fast and nasty and will ultimately prove to be a little too much for the Bulldogs to handle.  Look for the Eagles to improve their record to 2-1 this week with a hard fought 13-0 victory.

Player Bios Underway

September 26th, 2008 · 1 Comment

Hey everyone… wanted to let you all know that the player bios are going up on the site this week.  It’s still a bit of a work in progress, but we’ll get there.  We still need bios from Alexander, Caron, Charles, Finch, Ingram, Kittner, NeVille, Sly, Stowers, Wright, so please get them to us when you have some time.

Heather Harris has done a fantastic job taking pictures at the games and has been posting them up to the account we set up.  We’ve used alot of those pictures to set up the bios that are in place, but we’re still missing a few players.  I’m sure as the games go by, we’ll have great photos of everyone.  I’ll change them out too if you have a preference for a particular pic as the season progresses. If you don’t see your profile on the bios page… fret not.  We’ll be hooking you up shortly.

Have a great Eagles day!!

STYFL Week 2 Results

September 22nd, 2008 · 2 Comments

As we all know, week 2 was a good week for the Eagles.  In fact, it was a clean sweep for the entire Eagles club as the Jr. Pee Wee’s notched their first victory of the season 7-6 over the Rams and the Pee Wee’s stomped the Rams 33-0.  For those of you keeping score… Eagles 60 – Rams 13 when you combine the three scores.  (Week 1 Total was Eagles 33 – Diablos 19).  So, as a club, the Eagles remain unofficially undefeated for the season.  Obviously, they don’t count combined scores in the standings, but I thought it would be interesting anyway.

Anyway… here’s the scoop.

Eagles (1-1) 20 – Rams (0-2) 6
Diablos (2-0) 14 – Bulldogs (0-2) 0
Special Forces (1-0) 14 – Rattlers (1-1) 12

Eagles Soar Over Rams 20-6

September 20th, 2008 · 1 Comment

After a disappointing loss to the Diablos in the season opener, the Eagles got back to their winning ways this week with an impressive win over the Rams. With the win, the Eagles evened their record to 1-1 for the season.

The game started off on a good note with Dakota Neer returning the opening kickoff for a touchdown. Dakota fielded the ball at mid field, bounced off of a few defenders, cut to the outside and outran the Rams defenders down the sideline.

From there, the Eagles stingy defense took it to the Rams on their first possession and forced a turnover on downs. It looked like it was going to be an awfully long day for the Rams as the Eagles scored again on their next possession on another touchdown romp by Neer. The Rams were thinking otherwise.

STYFL Week 1 Results

September 16th, 2008 · 1 Comment

There were three games on the slate this weekend and the results are in.

Cardinals (1-0) 14 vs Bulldogs (0-1) 0

Rattlers (1-0) 25 vs Rams (0-1) 0

Diablos (1-0) 7 vs Eagles (0-1) 0

Special Forces (0-0) had a bye week.

This week there are three games on the slate as well.  It’s an important game for the Eagles who suffered a disappointing season opener last week at Queen Creek Middle School.   The Rams are also coming off a loss and looking to even their record at 1-1.  Should be a great game.

Oh so close, Eagles Drop Heart-Breaker to Diablos in Opener

September 15th, 2008 · No Comments

You could feel it in the crisp early morning air as the Mighty Might Eagles took the field early Saturday morning for the season opener against the Diablos. Albeit a biased perspective, both teams look to have a great chance at this year’s league championship… at least on paper.

During the initial scrimmages last week, the Diablos executed two passing plays getting behind the Eagles secondary for quick scores. The Eagles worked on this in preparing to face the Diablos this weekend and the practice paid off as the Diablos found it much more difficult to connect through the air in the opener.

The first half started with the Eagles kicking off to the Diablos. From there, the Eagles vaunted defense took the field to chants of “E-A-G-L-E-S… EAGLES”! The boys in black and green didn’t disappoint as they shut down the Diablos offense and forced a turnover on downs.

To their credit, the Diablos returned the favor keeping the Eagles explosive running game in check for the first two quarters. The majority of the first two quarters that is…
