Week 3 STYFL Mighty Might Lowdown

September 26th, 2008 · No Comments

Three games are on the slate this weekend as the Eagles battle the Bulldogs, the Diablos take on Cardinals, and the Special Forces face the Rams.

Eagles (1-1) versus Bulldogs (0-2)
(8am Queen Creek Middle School)

The Eagles and Bulldogs share one common opponent so far this season, the Diablos.  The Eagles lost a heartbreaker to the Diablos in week one in a game that frankly could have went either way.  The Eagles ran out of time as they were knocking on the door to the endzone toward the beginning of the first half, and the Diablos scored the deciding touchdown with less than a minute to play in the fourth quarter.  The Bulldogs lost to the Diablos 14-0 in what appeared to be a very evenly matched game as well.

The Eagles easily handled the Rams in their week 2 showdown and the Bulldogs lost another tough game to the Cardinals 14-0 in Week 1.  The Eagles defense is fast and nasty and will ultimately prove to be a little too much for the Bulldogs to handle.  Look for the Eagles to improve their record to 2-1 this week with a hard fought 13-0 victory.

Diablos (2-0) versus Cardinals (1-0)
(8am Desert Mountain Park)

Battle of the unbeatens… these teams have one common opponent, the Bulldogs.  Both squads beat the Bulldogs 14-0.  This should be a very good matchup pitting two teams that appear to have very similar skill sets.  I wasn’t sure where to go here… so I checked in with the Schwam… and the Schwami said, “Kissin’ cousins… Diablos 6, Cards 6”.

Special Forces (1-0) versus Rams (0-2)
(8am Desert Mountain Park)

Well, we don’t have a ton to go on with the Special Forces other than their season opening 14-12 win against the Rattlers.  The Rattlers manhandled the Rams in week 1, 25-7.  The Rams are a young, improving squad, but the Schwam’s gotta go with the Forces in this one… “Seals 26, Rams 6”.

And now for our Big Brothers….

The Jr. Pee Wee Eagles (1-1) take on the Bulldogs (0-2).  Look for the Eagles to notch their second “W” in a tough game… 13-6.

The Pee Wee Eagles (2-0) have looked downright dominant in their first two games.  The Bulldogs are (1-1).  The teams both beat the Diablos, with the Eagles prevailing 35-0 and the Bulldogs prevailing 20-6.  Schwam says… “Big Birds 27, Bulldogs 6”.

That’s a wrap folks… see ya bright and early tomorrow morning!  Go Eagles!!
