Ok Coach Romel… what’s the dealio with the Michael Jackson Thriller routine that you had the boys doing at the end of practice? For those of you that weren’t there, I will try to provide account of the unusual event.

At the end of practice, the coaches told the boys to get on the line. We presumed this was to run some wind sprints or whatever. Not so fast… all the sudden Coach Romel instructs the boys to break down in a tackling position (you know… knees bent, crouch down a bit, get your hands in front of you, etc.). Anyway, he then told the boys they were to stay in that position as they ran toward him 15 yards away. What followed was something that was extraordinarily mini-cam worthy.

As the boys began moving toward their beloved coach, the armchair quarterback peanut gallery (yeah you Ardans, Orem, Neer and Caron), began to humm the theme of Michael Jackson’s Thriller. I damn near fell off my chair… looking at the boys coming toward us as if they were a gaggle of Sleastaks from the Land of the Lost. Pretty great way to end another well executed practice by our beloved Birds.

On a more serious note, here-here to the coaches for doing such a great job with the boys. This is Drew’s first year, and I’m simply blown away with the quality of the training the kids are getting at such a young age. As Coach Gene says… “It takes a special young man to be an Eagle”. Special young men indeed. And great leadership from a great coaching staff that all of us parents are mighty gracious for.

All that said, Gene do you think my kid could get a carry or two in one of the next games?… 🙂

I could not have said it better myself. Kellie and I would like to THANK everyone involved in purchasing the dinners, as Coach Beaver said on Tuesday “We Are One Big Family” and EAGLES stick together. I am proud to have Maison play for great coaches and awesome kids. With this being his third season in tackle football I can definitly see considerable improvement, and I feel that 90% of that improvement is attributed to the coaches. To all of the familes thank you for being there for us.
