Eagles Roll in Opener, 39-0

September 8th, 2007 · No Comments

It’s tough to say which was hotter… the visitor side bleachers or the Mighty Might Eagles on opening day of the San Tan Youth Football League. The Eagles dominated on both sides of the ball and notched their first victory of the season 39-0 in front of a sun drenched crowd of dehydrated Eagle fans.

The day belonged to the Eagles from the beginning as the Eagles defense forced a 3 and out on the Vipers on the games first possession. Dakota Neer put the Eagles ahead on their first offensive possession toting the ball from near mid-field led by sensational blocking from the offensive line.

On the play of the day, Neer took off from his own goal line and ran 99 yards for the score. Although he looked like he wanted to stop for Gatorade as he ran down the sideline past his teammates, he kept chuggin’ and crossed the goal line to put a cap on a fine football game for the fisty Eagles. With the win, the Eagles move to 1-0 on the season and will travel to Maricopa next weekend to take on the 1-0 Cougars.

Other scores from around the league:

Miners 26, Pirates 6
Diablos 18, Bulldogs 0
Cougars 7, Cardinals 0
Rattlers 12, Buffaloes 0
Rams 36, Predators 12
